
Dhaka: Some 532 students from schools, colleges, universities, and madrasas committed suicide last year, according to a poll by the Achol Foundation.
Among them, 340 were in school, 106 were in college, 85 were in universities, and 54 were in madrasas, it said.
The information was made public by the charity in a news statement on Friday.
With 23.77 per cent, Dhaka has the highest rate of school and college suicides out of the eight divisions, followed by Chattogram at 17.27 per cent.
In 2017, women made up 60.15 per cent of all suicide-related fatalities.
Students between the ages of 13 and 19 are most likely to die by suicide, according to survey statistics.
