Chittagong: MD. Zaheer (30), a laborer, lost his right leg while working at the AKS Steel factory of Abul Khair Group.
The incident occurred at the Abul Khair Steel (AKS) factory at Shitalpur Chowdhury Ghata in Sitakunda at noon on Saturday (November 26). He has been admitted to the Medical Center Hospital adjacent to the GEC of Chittagong city in critical condition.
The village home of the injured worker is in the Feni district. His identity details are not available. He worked as a laborer under a contractor at Abul Khair Steel Factory.
According to police and local sources, Zaheer’s right foot suddenly entered the machine while working on the welding machine at Abul Khair Steel Factory on Saturday. As a result, his right leg was severed at the knee. He was rescued and admitted to the city’s GEC Medical Center Hospital in critical condition. Abul Khair Group owns the hospital.
When asked about this matter, Chittagong Industrial Police ASP Salim Newaz told Ekushey Patrika that one worker’s right leg was severed. The exact cause of the accident is not yet known. Legal action will be taken if complaints are received from the family.
Imrul Kayes Bhuiyan, manager of Abul Khair Group, said that the injured worker is being given advanced treatment.
