Chattogram : The first batch of students from Chittagong Independent University (CIU) who completed the Integrated Supply Chain Management (ISCM) course celebrated their graduation in a ceremony held on 21 October 2024 in Chattogram.
The event was attended by prominent figures including Commodore M. Fazlar Rahman (C), BSP, psc, BN, a member of the Chittagong Port Authority; Md. Zakir Hossain, Commissioner of the Custom House Chattogram; and Kabir Ahmed, President of the Bangladesh Freight Forwarder’s Association, all of whom addressed the graduates.
CIU became the first university in Bangladesh to launch the ISCM course in February 2024. The curriculum was developed through a collaboration between the USAID-funded Feed the Future Bangladesh Trade Activity, industry stakeholders, and academic institutions.
The program offers students and professionals a comprehensive understanding of supply chain dynamics, optimization techniques, and industry best practices. With this knowledge, graduates are equipped to enhance the efficiency of logistics operations across Bangladesh.
The course also prepares participants to navigate global supply chain challenges and adapt to shifting market trends, positioning the logistics sector for sustainable growth in the global economy. As part of their training, students visited Chittagong Port and an Inland Container Depot to gain practical experience and insights into the industry’s operations.
At the ceremony, Commodore M. Fazlar Rahman highlighted the importance of the ISCM course, stating, “An Integrated Supply Chain Management (ISCM) course is essential for developing skilled manpower in Bangladesh, fostering innovation, and enhancing the supply chain sector to drive sustainable growth and global competitiveness.”
The graduation represents a significant achievement for both the students and CIU. The knowledge and skills gained from this program will enable graduates to contribute meaningfully to Bangladesh’s ongoing industrialization and economic development.
These new professionals are now prepared to lead innovations in supply chain management, addressing the complexities of modern business logistics.
